Stockholm

I’ve been lucky enough to spend the last few days in beautiful Stockholm, the reason being the première of my new piece Movement (for Wind Ensemble) by the fantastic Blåsarsymfonikerna.

It was great to be involved in this concert of ten premières of pieces by composers from music colleges in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and myself (on exchange).  The quality and variety of the pieces made for a really successful concert.

This is the largest ensemble I have ever written for, so composing this piece was a really exciting challenge for me, and one that I enjoyed a lot.  After this taster there is so much more I would love to explore in pieces for larger forces.

I must say a huge thanks to everybody at the Blåsarsymfonikerna and to Michael Bartosch, the conductor.
